YEREVAN. – The National Assembly of Armenia on Monday begun debates on setting a new tax system for restaurants and liquor stores in capital city Yerevan.

Yerevan Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan is in Parliament introducing the respective draft amendments to the Law on Local Fees and Charges.

At present, the quarterly fee for catering of food in public is separate for major restaurants and non-major ones.

The said draft amendments, however, propose to determine these fees based on the surface area of these restaurants.

The respective fees charged to liquor stores and tobacco shops also will change based on the same principle.
