YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia proposes to rename three ministries and dissolve another one, said Arpine Hovhannisyan, the Acting Minister of Justice, at Monday’s special session of the National Assembly.

She noted this when presenting the bill on making respective amendments to the law on the makeup of the government.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Economy shall be renamed as the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment; the Ministry of Transport and Communication—as the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology; and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources—as the Ministry of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources.

In addition, it is proposed that the Ministry of Urban Development be dissolved. And the State Committee for Architecture and Cultural Values’ Protection shall be established in its stead.

Newly appointed Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan had submitted these proposals at a recent Cabinet meeting. He had added that the new government makeup shall increase the effectiveness of governance.
