YEREVAN. - A concert entitled “100+1” took place in Yerevan’s Komitas Chamber Music House on Wednesday. The event, which was attended by the Armenian Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan, was held in the framework of the Ministry’s “My Armenia” Pan-Armenian Festival.

At the event, Karine Helman-Gevorgyan and Christer Wikmark (Sweden), Nare (Lebanon), Sose Grigoryan (Israel), Adel Azroyan (Russia), Marina Berberian and Irena Kofman (U.S.), Aram Khorozian (Syria) and Sar Sargsyan (Artsakh) performed the works of Komitas. Sayat-Nova, Arno Babajanyan, Eduard Mirzoyan and Makar Yekmalyan.

Stafania Topalian (Japan) and Vahe Tilbian (Ethiopia) performed the song “Don’t Deny” which was presented at the 2015 Eurovision on occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Tsaghkazard ensemble of the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese, people’s artist of Armenia Hasmik Leyloyan, composer Anahit Shahzadeyan and others also took to the stage.

By the end of the concert, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan delivered a welcome speech. She noted that 100+1 years have passed after the tragic events of the beginning of the 20th century and although the blow was horrible and the consequences were immeasurable, the Armenian people lived, survived and established two independent states – Armenia and Artsakh.

“Today we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of both of our states, being confident that our nation’s longevity is depends on sacredly preserving the Armenian language, faith and culture, as well as passing them down from generation to generation.  Our compatriots were also able to preserve their national self-identity and the pride of being Armenian through Armenian songs,” the Diaspora Minister noted.
