YEREVAN. – Acting Minister of Defense of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan on Saturday chaired, at the Ministry of Defense, a regular meeting of the interdepartmental commission that deals with the matters concerning the status of the participants in military actions, and Yerkrapah (Defender of the Land) volunteers.

Ohanyan underscored the role of Armenian volunteer movement during the Karabakh War as well as throughout the hostilities which Azerbaijan had unleashed in early April. In this context, he highlighted the need to appreciate the respective merits of the Armenians who volunteered to enlist in order to defend the homeland.

The discussants reflected on several legislative and legal matters regarding the procedure for issuing the status of “participant in military actions” to those that have taken part in the battles to defend the homeland.
