YEREVAN. – The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia has issued the preliminary results of Sunday’s local government election in Vanadzor, the third largest city of the country.
The respective votes were cast as follows: ruling Republican Party of Armenia, 14,899 (37.6 percent) votes; Bright Armenia Party, 10,899 (27.5 percent) votes; Haykakan Veratsnund (Armenian Rebirth)—former Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law)—Party, 5,286 (13.34 percent) votes; Prosperous Armenia Party, 2,872 (7.25 percent) votes; ruling coalition junior partner Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, 2,522 (6.36 percent) votes; Civil Contract Party, 1,617 (4.08 percent) votes; Consolidation Party, 984 (2.48 percent) votes; and Armenian National Congress Party, 551 (1.39 percent) votes.
The total number of eligible voters in Vanadzor is 96,561, and 41,278—or 42.74 percent—of these voters cast their ballots on Sunday.
