The Armenian Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan on Tuesday visited the construction site of the concrete North-South motorway. He specifically headed to the Ashtarak-Talin section.  

The head of the North-South Road Corridor Investment Program Implementation Organization, Artur Sargsyan, noted that the work is proceeding according to the schedule: up to 50 m concrete road bed is paved per hour. Head of the Safege French organization’s working group, Bronislav Dimitrievich, told the Minister that the quality of the concrete was checked prior to launching the work. Only after this did the Spanish contractor Isolux Corsan operate the paver. 

Getting familiarized with the course of the work on the ground, the Minister noted that the new motorway, which will link the northern and southern regions of Armenia, must be of high quality.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) funds the construction of the North-South motorway in the framework of programs’ Tranche 2 ($180 mln). Following the restoration, the two-lane Ashtarak-Talin motorway will expand to become four-lane, while the section of about 15 km will pass by a new way parallel to the functioning one.
