YEREVAN. - The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will give its assessment on the elections after they end.

Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) Eduard Sharmazamov, who is also the RPA Spokesman, said the aforementioned on Thursday, referring to the information that after the consolidation of Bright Armenia and Armenian Revival parties, the RPA will become an opposition in the city of Vanadzor.  

“No party in Vanadzor won 40+1 votes: a coalition is needed there to have a 50+1 mandate, that is 17 mandates are needed. Each political party itself decides what to do and who to vote for. The situation depends on how the 33 City Council members will elect,” Sharamzanov said.

The RPA Spokesman also recalled that the local self-government elections differ from nationwide ones: the number of votes won in the local and nationwide elections doesn’t have to be the same.

“The parties which won few votes shouldn’t get disappointed. And, conversely, those, which won many votes, including us, shouldn’t get too excited,”he noted.
