YEREVAN. – With Movses Hakobyan being appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia (RA), there are no more generals left in the headship of the Ministry of Defense (MOD), and all three deputy ministers of defense are civilians, reported Zhoghovurd newspaper.

“Zhoghovurd has learned that the soldiery will soon be dismissed also from the other leadership positions of the RA Ministry of Defense. The young staff will be moved to the departments under the RA Armed Forces General Staff, whereas the older [people] will retire.

“It is believed that the Ministry of Defense will gradually turn into an administration that develops the army development  policy and resolves matters associated with material security, whereas the military functions will be reserved for the RA Armed Forces General Staff and its departments,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
