U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch briefed on her contacts with the Armenian communities of the U.S., stressing that she had a number of useful and interesting meetings with the representatives of Philadelphia, Detroit, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

According to her, wide range of issues from the Armenian-Turkish relations, Armenia’s security up to democracy issues and investments were discussed.

Yovanovitch stressed that the Armenian community was very much interested in these problems and everything that is going on in Armenia, RFE/RL reported.

The U.S. diplomat also commented on the statement issued by OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs where Azerbaijani word “Khankendi” is also mentioned to name NKR’s capital. She stressed the mediators referred to this word in the past as well.

Commenting on blocking of Matthew Bryza’s nomination as U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yovanovitch said that the U.S. Senate is to decide. Matthew Bryza enjoys absolute confidence of the President and Secretary of State, she added. The U.S. Ambassador also expressed hope his nomination would be approved.
