YEREVAN. - Alliance Party Chairman, National Assembly (NA) of Armenia member Tigran Urikhanyan, will not be giving up his parliamentary seat.

Urikhanyan on Wednesday issued a respective statement.

“I will continue the pro-people addresses, legislative initiatives, voting, and the daily work in Parliament. (…). And next, I find expedient the coming together with a big and popular political team, the existence of major potential in which will bring about a turning point in the Armenian scene,” the statement reads, in particular.

On October 4, NA President Galust Sahakyan had publicized Urikhanyan’s petition for giving up his parliamentary seat.

Pursuant to the law, however, an MP may withdraw such a petition within 15 working days. But if the deputy does not, the petition for giving up the parliamentary seat is accepted.

Tigran Urikhanyan is expected to withdraw his respective petition within the specified deadline.
