YEREVAN. – The first assignment by newly appointed Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan was regarding achieving a reduction in the natural gas prices solely for the needy class of society in Armenia, according to Hraparak newspaper.

“However, according to our information, the Armenian side will once again discuss—on the 14th of the month, at the CSTO [i.e. the Collective Security Treaty Organization] meeting [in capital city Yerevan]—with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, who is arriving in Armenia, the matter of a gas price reduction for the entire population [in Armenia], a change in the price of gas at the border.

“According to our information, [Russian energy company] Gazprom leader [Alexey] Miller’s visit to Armenia is also expected in the near future, for final discussions regarding the matter,” wrote Hraparak.
