The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will visit the region in the third ten days of October, Russian Co-Chair Igor Popov told www.vesti.az.

“We plan to arrive in the region in the third ten days of October. We will visit Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Meetings with the leadership and servicemen are supposed to take place. It is [also] planned to consider the implementation of the agreements reached at Vienna and St. Petersburg summits, which were aimed at the stabilization of the situation in the zone of conflict. We will discuss the further prospects for the negotiation process, considering the working proposals available.  [Apart from this,] We will ascertain the military situation in the conflict zone, which, according to our estimates, has remained relatively calm after the April events till recently,” Popov said.

Responding to the question on the hearsay round the five regions of the security zone, Popov noted: “We have repeatedly spoken on the topic of returning the territories round Nagorno-Karabakh. This problem should be considered comprehensively, together with the other elements of the settlement, including the decision on Karabakh’s status, return of all refugees, maintaining the corridor linking Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, as well as carrying out peacekeeping operations. The settlement process is a single package and any attempts to single out from it separate elements, which one of the sides prefers, is counterproductive.”
