YEREVAN. – The Defense Minister of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, on Saturday chaired a meeting of the board adjunct to the minister.

The event was devoted to the discussion of readiness, challenges, and the avenues for improvement of the operational link of the Armenian armed forces, the Ministry of Defense (MOD) informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Within the framework of the coordination of collaboration and actions between the armed forces of the two Armenian republics, representatives from the command unit of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) Defense Army also attended this meeting.

In his welcoming remarks, Sargsyan first reflected on the “nation-army” ideology in defense system. In this context, he stressed that this ideology is much more than the national army and it does not lead to the militarization of the society, or the state.

“The society cannot be isolated from the army, and vice versa,” the defense minister noted, in particular.

Several major reports were presented at the board meeting.

Also, it was stressed that considerable work was done, within the reporting period, to improve the readiness of the operational link of the Armenian armed forces.

As a result of discussions, the participants were given relevant instructions regarding the future courses of actions.
