YEREVAN. – Hraparak newspaper has learned that Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan could be heading the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) proportional representation list in the forthcoming National Assembly election, an alliance will be formed around him, and President—and RPA Chairman—Serzh Sargsyan will head the RPA election headquarters, according to the newspaper.
“But lawyers cannot come to an agreement on whether or not the law permits Karen Karapetyan to register as an MP candidate [because he has not been living in Armenia for the past several years].
“And the matter of Karen Karapetyan’s RPA membership will be resolved a week before the RPA congress [which is slated for November 26]. There is an agreement that Karen Karapetyan himself, no one else, will announce about this,” wrote Hraparak.
