YEREVAN. – The number of teachers in Armenia has reduced by 3,000 over the last five years, representatives of the national center of education technologies.

According to the center's data, over 41 thousand teachers were working in the educational institutions in 2011-12. This year the number of teachers reduced to 38, 690.

According to the explanations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, declining number of teachers is conditioned by the fact that the number of students decreases annually. Nevertheless, everything is done to ensure that teachers are working full time.

The official statistics says there were over 386 thousand school children in Armenia in 2011-12 school year, and only 364, 398 this year.
