YEREVAN. – Considering the disproportionate distribution of revenues in Armenia, a 3.2-percent economic growth—which the 2017 State Budget draft specifies—will not lead to major results, economist Vilen Khachatryan said at a press conference on Saturday.

The economist described this also as a growth by inertia.

“If we assess the 3․2-percent economic growth in numerical expression, this will amount to $350 million for the $10- to $10.5-billion GDP,” stressed Khachatryan. “What does this amount mean to an economy like [in] our country?

“If we divide it equally among the 3 million people [in Armenia], it will be about $100 for each [person in the country]. And if we consider [the fact] that revenues are distributed disproportionately in our economy, we can’t expect major results in case of such [economic] growth.”
