The U.S. should reconsider its regional policy, stated spokesman for the Iranian MFA, Bahram Ghasemi, commenting on the results of U.S. presidential elections, Irna reports. 

In his words, the policy of the U.S. Government is very important for the Iranian people, the functions of the U.S. Government being a criterion for assessing Washington’s policy.

“The Iranian people and the Islamic Republic of Iran have unpleasant and traumatic feelings regarding the U.S. policy,” he added. Ghasemi noted that the U.S. interference in the domestic matters of the region’s country is a key factor for the advancement of violence and extremism in the region. “The unstable situation in the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Aden and Red Sea, as well as the threats made through disseminating violence and extremism, including the ISIS terrorism, are indicative of the need to reconsider the U.S. policy in the region,” he stressed.
