We deal with a subject from which adventuristic steps are always expected.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, who is visiting the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), on Saturday told the aforementioned to ARTSAKHpress news agency.

He noted this when asked about the Azerbaijani provocations since Friday morning, in some parts of the line of contact between the Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces.

“[Azerbaijan’s military aggression in] April showed that Azerbaijan’s blitzkrieg was not carried out and, contrary to its calculations, the capability of the [two] Armenian states was much higher,” noted Kocharyan. “Such actions by Baku only hinder the resumption of the negotiation process, especially the implementation of the agreements of Vienna and Saint Petersburg. Such intentional conduct by the Azerbaijani authorities leaves no alternative to the status quo, from which they themselves often complain. Otherwise, they would enable to implement these agreements.”

Speaking about the current phase in the negotiation process, the deputy FM of Armenia said this phase should be divided into two platforms.

“One [of them] is the actual talks in connection with the settlement [of the Karabakh conflict],” he noted. “The second—the talks aimed at strengthening the ceasefire regime.

“Today we speak only about the second platform because, as we have said repeatedly, as long as there are shootings, [and] provocations, speaking that there could be progress in the process of negotiations is just naivety. From this viewpoint, these latest provocations [by Azerbaijan] once again suggest that the Vienna agreements should immediately be begun to be implemented.”
