The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has launched a criminal case into the assault on the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, official spokeswoman for the IC, Svetlana Petrenko, told TASS.

''A criminal case has been launched into the assault on Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov, which constitutes an offence under Article 360 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Assaults on Persons or Institutions Enjoying International Protection),'' she noted.
