Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vladimir Zhirinovky beieves hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone are to no one’s benefit – be it Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia or Turkey.

“So all the countries will object to any conflicts and demand a ceasefire,” he said as quoted by Vesti-az.

The Nagorno-Karabakh problem is a most complicated one. It is similar to the Kosovo problem. He also compared the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh to that in Jerusalem. Jews and Arabs have failed to reach an agreement for 60 years, and Armenians and Azerbaijanis are unable to do it as well.

As regard the Russian base’s interference in possible hostilities, Zhirinovky believes it depends on the Armenian leadership.

“If they ask for help, such actions are possible in the context of peace enforcement. They will only be aimed at putting an end to hostilities. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has already claimed 25,000 lives, and no one is interested in new war,” Zhirinovsky said.

According to him, neutrality is prevailing now, as no one want Armenia and Azerbaijan to be displeased.

“A solution to the conflict is very difficult to find. No one is seeking to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Armenia or as an independent state,” he said.
