YEREVAN. - Each of the 1500 electoral districts will be equipped with one camera during the upcoming parliamentary elections of Armenia.

Chairman of the inter-party Committee on Installing Cameras, Hamlet Abrahamyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am, noting that the decision was adopted at the session held on Wednesday.

According to him, 2 million 332,000 euro will be allocated to EIC Telecom for installing the cameras, of which 2 million euro will be provided by the EU and the rest by the state.

Before this, the EU was ready to provide only 1 million 600,000 euro.

“We will install the video cameras in 1500 electoral districts, since Ucom company, cannot provide communication in the remaining 500 district,” he said.

The representatives of both the authorities and opposition voted for installing one camera in each of the 1500 electoral districts.

The opposition demanded installing two cameras in the electoral districts, however the company taking part in the tender required 3 million 800,000 euro for this, which the sides were not able to find.
