If needed, the Armenian Government is ready to support two investment programs in Armavir province of Armenia by different methods.

Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan stated the aforementioned during his visit to Armavir on Friday, on the sidelines of which he took part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the new jewelry production plant in Musaler and visited the former canning plant of Armavir, getting familiarized with the project of its reoperation.  

The jewelry production plant is being built by Begezyan company, which currently operates in Meridian free trade zone. The plant, whose first building is planned to be commissioned by the end of the year, is expected to provide 500-600 new jobs. It is planned to export the plant production to the U.S., Europe, Russia and Turkey.

As to the former canning plant of Armavir, Sargis-Karolina is planning to carry out reconstruction works in it and launch manufacturing of semi-finished products. It is also planned to organize production of baby food. The investments in the program will amount to $7-8 million.

During the consultation with the leaders of the community and entrepreneurs in the province administration, Karapetyan noted that the aim of his visit was to discuss the development programs of the province. Armavir governor Ashot Ghahramanyan informed that the five-year development plans of 87 out of 97 province communities have already been approved, the province development strategy for 2017-2025 being currently developed. In his words, currently $150 billion AMD programs are implemented. In 2017, programs for another 50 billion AMD will be implemented.

The current programs are aimed at processing agricultural products, production of concentrates, development of small and medium enterprises, waste disposal, etc.

Furthermore, the PM was told that 48,000 out of 97,000 ha agricultural lands are cultivated.

He then inquired whether there are modern farm enterprises with drip irrigation system and how much investments are needed for the drip irrigation of one hectare.

The PM was also informed that the Ministry of Agriculture is holding talks with suppliers for the import of new agricultural equipment.
