YEREVAN. - January 28 marks not only the anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces but also the birthday of captain Armenak Urfanyan, who fell in the four-day war in Karabakh.

Armenak’s mother, Hamest Nersisyan, noted that last year his son celebrated his birthday at home for the first time after joining the army.

“He came for a vacation. We celebrated his 25th anniversary. When leaving, he said: “Mum, I’m very satisfied with my life.” I realized that his life had become colorful,” she noted.

In her words, January 28 was Armenak’s most favorite holiday, not so much for being his birthday, but because it is the Army Day.

“It was his favorite holiday. Of course, he first celebrated the Army Day and then his birthday,” Ms Hamest said.

According to her, when Armenak was small, there was always a cake on his birthday. “We always celebrated his birthday with a cake,” she added.

This year they again celebrated Armenak’s birthday with a cake.

Ms Hasmik noted that her son’s biggest dream was to have a family and children. “He dreamt of having three children,” she noted.

Armenak Urfanyan was distinguished for his smartness and knowledge but he was fond of being distinguished for his force. When a teenager, he took part in taekwondo contests and had victories. The mother noted that even before the contest, he ordered to hammer a nail for the medal.

“My son was confident of his power. The thing is he wasn’t supported on time,” he said.

On his birthday Armenak Urfanyan was awarded with a medal by the Veteran Union of Karabakh.
