A candidate for the president of France, Francois Fillon, and his wife Penelope are brought before the national Prosecutor’s office, reports Interfax, referring to BFM TV channel. The couple arrived to the prosecutor’s office in Nanterre. It is noted, that they were interrogated separately.

Earlier this week, the French prosecutor's office told about its intentions to find out the more details about Fillon’s job. Investigation focused on charges of embezzlement and financial misconduct, the couple is charged with.

The candidate himself does not consider him guilty and states that allegations of violations allegedly committed by him are being spread by his political opponents. Fillon expressed readiness to cooperate with the prosecutor’s office to prove that he is not guilty.
