YEREVAN. - Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan on Monday introduced newly-appointed Minister of Emergency Situation Davit Tonoyan to the Ministry staff.

Karapetyan congratulated Tonoyan on the new appointment, the Government press-service informed Armenian News – NEWS.am.

“We know Mr Tonoyan as a decent, organized manager, as well as patriot and officer. I think that despite the great responsibility, the work on this post will be easy for him, considering the fact that the Ministry of Emergency Situations is an accomplished system. We are confident that Mr Tonoyan will fulfill all the tasks set before us,”’ Karapetyan said, giving relevant instructions.

In particular, he instructed to ensure full formation of civil defense subunits and fulfill the tasks set before them. “We expect Mr Tonoyan to regulate and coordinate the work carried out, which is aimed at the reduction of seismic risk and development of early warning systems. The work on their introduction should be carried out in 10 communities within a 6 month-period after the adoption of the Governmental program,” the PM said, adding that after the system is introduced and tested in those 10 communities, it will be necessary to introduce it in other communities as well.

Furthermore, Karapetyan instructed to expand the activity of voluntary rescue formations, underscoring the importance of establishing voluntary firefighting and rescue bases and expanding their work.
