About 200 more whales were stranded on a New Zealand beach, Radio New Zealand reported.

According to some informationm, Department of Conservation ranger Mike Ogle stated that the whales could have been frightened into the shallows by a shark.

"There's one carcass out there with some shark bites in it - but not a big one, just a small one, but quite fresh bites so yeah, there's something out there," Ogle said.

Earlier it was reported that more than 400 pilot whales beached themselves on Thursday in one of the worst whale stranding New Zealand has ever seen. The animals washed up on beaches at Farewell Spit on the South Island, a known black spot for whale strandings. At least 300 died yesterday, and about 100 were managed to be refloated.
