YEREVAN. – The National Institute of Standards (NIS) of Armenia wishes to partake in the development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) technical regulations for basturma safety, NIS Deputy Director Gevorg Nazaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

All these foods should have a single standard in terms of safety, since the consumers within the EAEU need to know that they are purchasing safe food, added Nazaryan.

He noted that in the case of single technical safety regulations, basturma from Armenia can be exported to the other EAEU countries, without obstacles.

“Since it is one of our national meat products, we are participating in the development of this standard, so that we express there the practice of our producers also,” stated Gevorg Nazaryan.

The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
