PARIS. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, on Wednesday evening.

The interlocutors agreed that the Armenian-French inter-parliamentary dialogue will continue to play a special role in the strengthening of relations between the two friendly countries.

Sargsyan noted that the National Assembly of Armenia has formed a kind tradition of establishing friendly ties with the parliaments of various European countries, including the Senate of France. In his words, the parliamentary cooperation corresponding to the spirit of the Armenian-French relations is expressed also in multilateral platforms, specifically in the Council of Europe, OSCE and NATO parliamentary assemblies. The Armenian leader highly appreciated the readiness of the members of the French delegation to the European Parliament to constantly keep the issues of concern to Armenia in the center of their attention.

Furthermore, Sargsyan praised the efficient cooperation between Armenia and France also in the framework of Francophoie.  

Apart from this, at the meeting reference was made to Armenia-EU relations, Karabakh conflict settlement process, as well as regional issues and challenges.

Moreover, the Armenian President touched on the persistent role of France in the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and thanked the parliamentarians for their consistent struggle against intolerance and hatred.

By the end of the meeting, Sargsyan made a note in the Book of Honorary Guests of the Senate.
