YEREVAN. - The election campaign should be run correctly without going down to a street level.  

Seyran Ohanyan, who tops the candidate list of Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian alliance, said the aforementioned on Monday at the meeting with the Union of Veterans of Armenia held in Yerevan.

Referring to the incident in Jrarat village of Armavir province, he confirmed the statement made by the alliance earlier on that an attempt was made to attack and shoot one of the villagers, who supported them.  “It is unacceptable when a man is banned to attend a rally, when he is wounded and sworn…Thanks to the skillful actions of our teammates, the weapon was taken away from the attacker and handed to the law enforcement authorities, ” Ohanyan said.

He didn’t deny that as a result of the incident, the brother of Deputy Chief of Armenian Police Levon Yeranosyan, Lernik Yeranosyan, was hospitalized. “The election campaign should be run correctly and the actions of the law enforcement authorities should be proportional to the violators from both sides. We told the law enforcement authorities to detain the violators of both sides in case of an incident, otherwise we will take other measures, but only within the scope of law. The reason behind the incident was that our supporter was hindered from attending the rally. He was sworn. And what measures are taken against swearers in Armenia? They are punished,” Ohanyan said.

According to the preliminary information, a quarrel sparked in Jrarat village of Armavir province at about 4:00 pm on Sunday, which grew into a scuffle during which the brother of Deputy Chief of Armenian Police Levon Yeranosyan, Lernik Yeranosyan, and Mikayel Baboyan suffered bodily injuries. The investigation established that during the same scuffle Lernik Yeranosyan shot in the air from his gun.
