U.S. President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn discussed extradition of a Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of organizing coup attempt in Turkey in 2016, former CIA director James Woolsey told The Wall Street Journal.

Woolsey confirmed he attended a September 19 meeting in New York City during which Flynn and two Turkish government ministers discussed ways to obtain and remove Gulen, who lived in the U.S. since 1999.

According to Woolsey, the plan was to make “a covert step in the dead of night to whisk this guy away.” Concrete details of the plan were not proposed. The former CIA Director claimed that he spoke out sharply against such an initiative and reported about it to U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.

It was noted that representative of Michael Flynn denied the reports.
