YEREVAN. – Former commander of Karabakh army Samvel Babayan does not want to talk about the reasons for his detention, his lawyer said.

The court on Friday made a decision on two-month arrest of former commander of Artsakh Defense Army Samvel Babayan.

Asked by Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent whether Mr. Babayan shares the opinion of ORO bloc about political persecution against him, Artavazd Kalashyan: “Mr. Babayan is not willing to voice position on the matter. He believes that if they brought groundless accusations against him, they have to make conclusions".

The lawyer said he would appeal the arrest within five days.

Earlier, the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia released a statement saying that Samvel Babayan was detained as a part of the criminal case on smuggling Igla antiaircraft missile complex into Armenia.
