System of a Down front man, world famous musician Serj Tankian visited 12 election precincts during parliamentary vote.

“We visited and spot-checked 12 polling stations between Vanadzor, Spitak, Gyumri, Maralik, Azatan, Talin, Ashtarak and Yerevan,” says Tankian's statement read out by other members of “Justice in Armenia” initiative.

Tankian said the major infection he noticed and reported was in Spitak where a member of Central Electoral Commission was standing immediately next to a booth talking to a voter. He also took unused ballots from another voter and discarded them himself in the booth.

Some irregularities and confusion was based on new system of voting, he added. Besides, some of the cameras did not seem to be working when they checked the online stream. Some places had too many people outside.

“In my case it was difficult to be anonymous, and it is possible that my presence stopped infractions before being observed,” he emphasized.

A number of artists from the Diaspora, including Serj Tankian, director Atom Egoyan and actress Arsinee Khanjian arrived in Armenia to carry out an observation mission during the parliamentary elections as part of the “Justice in Armenia” initiative.
