Turkey cannot act as an effective mediator in the Karabakh peace process, Polish Ambassador to Armenia Zdzislaw Raczynski told NEWS.am, commenting on Ankara’s attempts to mediate Karabakh conflict resolution.

According to him, it is undesirable to increase the number of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries, even for purely technical and organizational reasons, as it is an “accomplished three”. He stressed Armenia would also express its objection to the matter. “The conflict can be resolved when the parties are interested in a full-fledged involvement, when there is no tension between the Co-Chairs and direct participants in the conflict. This is a purely theoretical issue. Why should Turkey be involved in the process? What will it offer the conflicting parties if it does so? If a genius is able to offer a brilliant formula, acceptable to all parties, please let him be involved in the process. However, I do not see that Ankara has such an idea,” Raczynski emphasized.
