A quarter of the French electorate was likely to abstain in Sunday's vote, because of the lack of sympathy for both candidates former economy minister, Emmanuel Macronto and his rival Marine Le Pen, according to the research organization Odoxa.

The survey results revealed that many left-wing voters were disappointed after their candidates missed reaching the runoff.
