President of Russia Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday discussed on phone the situation round Qatar.

The presidents urged all the parties concerned to enter a dialogue in order to find compromise solutions for maintaining peace and stability in the Persian Gulf region, the Kremlin press-service reports. “It was stressed that the grave crisis in the Middle East requires the joint work and close cooperation of the international community in the struggle against terrorist threat,” the statement reads.

The leaders agreed to continue to exert joint efforts towards supporting the conflict settlement in Syria, including in the context of ensuring the practical implementation of agreements on creating de-escalation zones in the country.

The sides also touched on separate issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular, the work aimed at restoring the Russian-Turkish economic ties and implementing the Turkish Stream pipeline project.
