The current situation around Qatar suggests a provocation, political scientist Karine Gevorgyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

The analyst noted that although Qatar informed that the speech on behalf of the country’s emir in support of building relations with Iran was the result of hacking, there is information that Qatar's emir called Iranian President Rouhani.

"Why did Qatar's emir do that? It's not because he is out of his mind," the political scientist noted.

The expert said that the US  takes the relationship with Qatar seriously, taking into account the fact that a large American contingent is deployed there. 

"To some extent, the situation suggests a provocation against Saudi Arabia," the expert said, adding that the US relations with this state are twofold. 

In general, according to the political scientist, the situation may be the result of behind-the-scenes actions of the US or Turkey. Reaction of the states which severed  diplomatic relations with Qatar let's think as if they expected  such a course of events, the analyst said.
