YEREVAN. – Vice President of the National Assembly (NA) Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, on Wednesday received Kazakh Ambassador Timur Urazaev.
Lauding the current Armenian-Kazakh relations, Sharmazanov underscored the further development of bilateral parliamentary ties, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Also, the deputy speaker of Armenia’s parliament reflected on the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, and stressed that both Armenia and Artsakh see a resolution of this conflict solely through peace talks.
In the context of regional security, Sharmazanov pointed to Turkey’s closing its border with Armenia, and stated that having closed borders is a major regional threat.
In addition, the NA vice president attached importance to Armenian-Kazakh cooperation within international organizations.
Ambassador Urazaev, in turn, hailed the MPs’ contributions to the development of interstate relations.
The diplomat reaffirmed that Kazakhstan favors a pacific settlement to the Karabakh conflict and supports the respective activities by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group.
Speaking on the parliamentary election which Armenia conducted in April, the ambassador noted that the observers from Kazakhstan gave a positive assessment to this voting.
Furthermore, Eduard Sharmazanov and Timur Urazaev discussed the Armenian community in Kazakhstan.
