YEREVAN. – Hovsep Simonyan has been relieved of the post of Governor of Shirak Province. The respective decision was adopted at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia. 

Simonyan was appointed Shirak Province Governor in accordance with the quota of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, when the latter formed a coalition government with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, in February 2016. 

As a result, the ARF received three ministerial and two provincial governors’ positions.  

Hovsep Simonyan will be replaced by another ARF member, Artur Khachatryan, who until now was serving as Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development.
