Representatives of the recently re-opened Armenian Embassy in Iraq are to hold a meeting Nov. 26 with the leaders of the Iraq diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Paruir Hakobyan, the head of the central office of the Armenian community in Iraq, told RFE/Radio liberty. On November 23, the newly appointed Armenian Ambassador to Iraq Murad Muradyan presented his credentials President of Iraq Jalal Talabani.

In this context, Hakobyan pointed out that Iraqi Armenians will not from now own have to go to Syria or Iran for visas for Armenia.

The Armenian Embassy in Iraq was opened in 2003, but worked for a few months and was closed a few days before the Iraqi war. Hakobyan reported that the embassy is now located in a new building in the so-called “green zone.”
