YEREVAN. – A direct military conflict is quite possible between Iran and Saudi Arabia, analyst Hayk Martirosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

In his words, however, there is no need to assess the likelihood of a war between the two countries, since it already has been going on for a long time from the diplomatic point of view, and ever since the Islamic Revolution in Iran. 

“This clash unprecedentedly intensified recently,” added Martirosyan. “From military point of view, it is manifested in the form of a proxy war in the territory of third countries.”

The analyst added that a direct large-scale military clash between Iran and Saudi Arabia is also quite probable.

“But not until the moment when current Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman will turn from the legal owner to the actual ruler of the throne of the [Saudi] kingdom.”
