Member of the European Parliament Frank Engel is convinced that he is free to express his opinion.

Talking to Politico, he said he received an arrest warrant from the Azerbaijani authorities who tried to include his name on an Interpol list.

However, Engel emphasized that he and the other referendum observers issued a joint statement on their return declaring the vote to be the result of “a democratic process.”

“I say what I want, I am an elected official and I defend positions the European Parliament is incapable of defending in the Nagorno-Karabakh region,” Engel told Politico.
