The G20 summit is getting underway in Hamburg. The main issues on the agenda are fight against terrorism, global trade and climate change. The meeting is held under tight security in connection with the mass protests that began  on Thursday night.

Opening the summit, German Chancellor Angela Merkel noted that she hopes to find “compromises and answers” on a range of issues.

Prospects of finding common ground on climate change and trade look uncertain, AP reported.

The meeting opens after clashes between police and protesters. The police noted that at least 76 officers were injured.
