An Armenia-Iran transport corridor means direct railway communication, which will enable Armenia and Kazakhstan to increase bilateral trade turnover, Kazakh Ambassador to Armenia Ayimdoz Bozjigitov stated at a business forum.

He also pointed out that any transport corridor is an opportunity for the country’s economic development through establishment of economic ties with other states. Iran and Kazakhstan will have a transport corridor through Turkmenistan. The construction will be completed in 2011.

The North-South railway will connect Armenia and Iran and provide access to the outer world to Armenia. The construction project is estimated at U.S. $2 billion.
