Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan have launched the project of Trans-Afghan gas pipeline (TAPI).

As a supplier of natural gas, Turkmenistan will provide to the increasing long-term economies needs of Pakistan and India, stated the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

Hamid Karzai said that Afghanistan will meet its obligations under the project both in terms of security and construction.

Negotiations on the draft TAPI lasted for more than 15 years. The cost of the 1680 km pipeline, starting from the point of delivery of gas in Turkmenistan (Dovletabad) to the settlement Fazilka in India on the border with Pakistan, is estimated at $ 7.6 billion.
