The opening of the Aktash checkpoint (the Turkish-Georgian checkpoint in Akhalkalaki) will have a positive impact on the relations with Armenia, Governor of Ardahan Mustafa Tekmen stated.
“Ardahan has become an exemplary province in the relations with Georgia. We are a corridor linking Turkey with Caucasus,” he said, Haberler reports.
According to him, the opening of a new checkpoint will contribute to the dialogue between Turkey and Georgian Armenians, as Akhalkalaki has a large population of Armenians.
“It will be of great significance for Armenia-Turkey relations,” Tekmen noted.
