Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu received the deputy chief nuclear negotiator of Iran Ali Bagheri, Hurriyet daily reports.

According to diplomatic sources, at the meeting Bagheri disclosed the details of talks held on 6-7 December in Geneva between Iran and the six world powers (the five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany) on Iran’s nuclear program, Trend News reports.

Davutoglu said at the meeting that he wanted to resolve the nuclear issue of Iran by diplomatic means. Turkish FM said that Turkey was pleased with the start of negotiations between the six powers and Iran.

A new round of talks between Tehran and six powers on Iran’s nuclear issue will be held late January in Istanbul, as it was agreed during the talks in Geneva.

The U.S. and other Western countries accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons under cover of peaceful nuclear energy program. Tehran denies the accusation, saying its nuclear program aimed at meeting the country’s electricity needs.
