Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the special services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)—which includes Armenia—to strengthen their ties against the backdrop of terrorist threats.

This was noted in Putin’s welcoming message to the participants in the meeting of the council of the heads of the security agencies and special services of the CIS countries, and which was read by director Alexander Bortnikov of the Russian Federal Security Service, reported TASS Russian News Agency.  

The message also stressed that the current situation in the world requires seeking new and more effective tools for addressing global challenges and threats.

In addition, Putin expressed the hope that this meeting will deepen cooperation between the CIS special services, and recalled that such traditional talks contribute to the development of their collaboration in the fight against terrorism, extremism, illegal drugs, and transnational crimes.
