YEREVAN. – The Court of the Avan and Nor Nork Administrative Districts of the City of Yerevan no longer exists, and it is now called the Avan and Nor Nork Residence of the Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan, Judge Artush Gabrielyan on Thursday announced at the court.
He noted that, from now on, there solely will be the Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan with its chief judge, and all the other judges in Armenia’s capital city will carry out their duties under the jurisdiction of this court.
The government-initiated and parliament-approved respective law initiative on the country’s judicial system has entered into force on Thursday.
Under this new legislation, the district courts in Yerevan are dissolved, and only one general court—the Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan—is established.
The reason for making this change is the disproportionate workload of the judges of the general jurisdiction courts of the administrative districts of the capital city.
