The RA Statistical Service has released information on the economic situation in Armenia this January-November.

The previously released information showed lower-rate GDP growth, which was 2.6% this January-November.

The report contains information on the impact of various economic sectors on the country’s GDP. The agricultural sector showed a 2.5% decline.

The causes of the current situation in the agricultural sector, or rather in crop production, are well known and do not need to be commented on. The only thing we can say is that the former minister’s arguments incriminating the weather proved unconvincing.

The ministry’s “fruitful” activities for many years hardly contributed to the development of other sectors. Evidence thereof is official statistical data. Specifically, the output of animal produce showed a 1% decrease this January-November, with a 5.9% decline registered in the fish industry.

The share of Armenian industry, including the energy sector, in the country’s GDP was 1.3%. The mining industry showed 123.8% growth, with 11.5% growth registered in the processing industry.

During the period under review, the mining industry’s share increased, but it was much lower than that of the processing industry – 17.8% against 69.5%.

The services sector – trade and public catering – repair services, financial sector, real estate businesses and others had a positive impact on the country’s GDP, their share being 2.4%.
