The department of traffic offenses in Yerevan Investigation Department initiated a criminal investigation in connection with a car accident which occurred on January 3 at the Bagramyan-Avetisyan crossroads.

As News.am reported earlier, the accident occurred yesterday at 21:00 local time, at the intersection of Baghramyan-Avetisyan. Nine people were hospitalized, one of the injured died.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, a BMW X5 with registration number 23 UO 981 went into the oncoming lane and crashed into a taxi, which collided with a Volkswagen Passat with the registration number 1923 LS 684.

The taxi driver, Mkrtich Babajanyan, Yeghishe Tadevosyan, 27-year-old Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, one-year-old Garnik Hovhannisyan, 27-year-old Nazeli Ayvazyan, a 20-year-old Ruzanna Karapetyan, 5-year-old Hasmik Hovhannisyan, 2-year-old Lilit Hovhannisyan, 27-year-old Vardan Hovhannisyan were hospitalized.
